U6 to U11 Soccer Overview
At our club, boys and girls in the U6 to U11 age groups participate in engaging, in-house small-sided games across various venues, including Karuah, Carrington, Fox Glove Oval, Auluba, Montview, and Toolang on Saturdays from 8 AM to 12 PM. The primary goal of our Junior Non-Competition soccer initiative is to offer children the chance to learn fundamental soccer skills and the rules of the game, setting the stage for their future participation in competitive matches.
In our Junior Non-Competition framework, we emphasize enjoyment and skill development over winning or losing. While scores are noted, there are no official ladders, finals, or championships, ensuring that our young players can focus on having fun and improving their abilities without the pressure of competition.
Adapted for different age groups, our modified rules and pitch sizes are as follows:
Under 6 & Under 7: Games are played in a 4 vs. 4 format on mini-sized pitches, with no goalkeepers to encourage creativity and teamwork.
Under 8 & Under 9: Matches transition to a 7 vs. 7 format, which includes goalkeepers to introduce more traditional elements of the game.
Under 10 & Under 11: Players compete in a 9 vs. 9 format on slightly reduced pitches, promoting a greater understanding of positional play and teamwork.
This structured yet relaxed approach allows young athletes to explore the joys of soccer while cultivating their skills for future competitive play.
